Commercial Blenders

Commercial blenders are not built any different or better than those designated residential blenders. At least it is mostly believed that commercial blenders are built better. It is assumed they last longer and they also cost more. Well, we have found a few issues to discuss and think about.

The warranty on commercial blenders is usually less than on residential blenders. And when using a residential blender in commercial applications, the warranty is voided by the manufacturer.

What does that tell us? For residential applications, using a commercial blender, it won't make a difference. But if you have a commercial application, you better use a commercial blender because of the warranty. In commercial applications the daily use of a blender may be around 100 or 200 times while in residential applications it is probably 5 to 10 times tops.

This warranty issue also tells us, that it may be totally gimmicky , this warranty and commercial versus residential thing.

But the bottom line, when looking at the hp allocated to the commercial blenders, Waring has given them all 3.5 hp motors and even 3.75 hp motors. Blendtec too has allocated 3.5 hp motors in all their commercial blenders, although they do not necessarily disclose this. They just disclose the amps and watts, which leads to believe that a 3.0 hp or a 3.5 hp motor is used. After all, these manufactures know that these commercial blenders are used more frequently and therefore it makes just better sense to equip the blender with a 3.0 or 3.5 hp motor.

This means now that a commercial blender is actually better than a residential blender, but not because of its designation, mainly because of having a stronger motor. The hp in a blender reflects on the torque, longevity, and endurance, and also the smoothie quality. A 2 hp blender overheats easier and wears out quicker.
