We identified Vita Mix, Waring and Blendtec blenders as the best high performance blenders best suited for the break room environment. The simplest blender to use are the Vita Mix 4500 Turbo Blender and the Waring MX1050XT. For about the same price, the Waring blender comes with a 3.5 hp motor versus the Vita Mix 4500 with a 2 hp motor.

 It is exactly our point that Break Rooms should offer employees healthy food, freshly made from fruits and vegetables straight from the market.  Currently most break rooms provide snack bars and soda pop machines. Too much junk food slows activity, increases obesity, and leads eventually to health problems.

According to our own study, many employees that currently are into green and raw smoothies, prepare them at home in the morning. and take them to work. When stored and not consumed immediately, the smoothie will be subjected to oxidation. These kind of raw enthusiasts have indicated that they wish a blender would be installed in their break room(s). The trend for green raw and fruit smoothies increases.

The only thing there is to say is: Make sure you choose a blender that is easy to use, is a high performance blender,  and fits into your budget.  You don't want it to break down. We recommend therefore at least a 2 hp or 3 hp blender. Ideally, if you can afford it, choose a 3 hp blender or even a 3.5 hp blender. Recommendation: We recommend that you send a memo to your employees that indicates the safety measures for using a blender:

  1. Never stick your hand, a body part, or a device into the blender container while the blender is in operation, unless it is a specifically designed tamper to push the ingredients towards the blade.
  2. Only use the tamper when the lid on the container is in place.
  3. Never blend, or attempt to blend anything for which the blender is not designed  (i.e. pocket knife, calculator, cell phone, iPod, baseball bat, etc... ) We do not condone the advertising practices of Blendtec.
  4. When cleaning the blender, always make sure it is un-plugged from the electric outlet
  5. Rinse the container out immediately right after use. This will help keep the container(s) clean and ready for the next person to use.
  6. If a container needs to be thoroughly cleaned, don't use your hand, but rather a brush to prevent cuts from the sharp blade(s)
